Russia's new car import tariffs have dropped to 25% this year or after joining the WTO

Maxim Medvedkov, Russia’s chief WTO negotiator, said recently that after Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization, the Russian government will reduce the tariff on new cars from the current 35% to 25%.

The World Trade Organization stated that Russia may join the organization this year. Medvedkov said at the meeting to join the World Trade Organization: "Russia's tariff measures taken in 2009 in response to the economic crisis will be gradually eliminated after the accession to the WTO."

Medvedko also stated that after seven years of accession to the World Trade Organization, Russian new car import tariffs will further fall to 15%.

Russia and relevant interest countries have not yet reached a consensus on the seven-point issue in the negotiating program, including quotas for meat and poultry imported from WTO members to Russia.
