The 2006 (8th) China International Chemicals Exhibition was grandly opened on April 19 at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center. The reporter learned from the exhibition that China has already produced nearly 20 major chemical products in the world. In 2005, the total import and export trade of petroleum and chemicals was nearly 200 billion U.S. dollars (199.46 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 1.7 times from the end of the Ninth Five-Year Plan period. In the past five years, the added value of the petroleum and chemical industries has grown by 58.4%, sales revenue has increased by 140%, profits have increased by 185%, and the proportion of the nation's industries has been 10.5%, 13.7% and 28% respectively. The world-renowned oil and chemical transnational corporations have almost all entered China. They not only invest in and build production bases, but also set up R&D centers, many of which have expanded their production scale.

According to the organizer of the exhibition, this exhibition has the following characteristics: the number of foreign companies greatly exceeds the previous one; private (private) companies have risen suddenly; the number of specially-installed enterprises has increased; the number of exhibitors of drying equipment, phosphorus chemicals, and fluorine chemicals has increased The expansion of single enterprise booths is obvious. PetroChina, Sinopec, Sinochem and other large state-owned enterprises continue to be the backbone of the exhibition.

According to statistics, the number of visitors to the exhibition on the first day reached 6,258, an increase of 25% over the number of visitors on the first day of the previous exhibition. It is reported that this exhibition ended on the 20th.
