The new long-term agreement is a further recognition of WABCO's global leadership in the field of brake system platforms. WABCO will be the sole supplier of the customer's electronic brake system (EBS) in Europe and the anti-lock brake system (ABS) in Brazil, and supply system-matched traditional valve products. WABCO will also supply pneumatic disc brakes (ADB), electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS), actuators and the next generation of cost-optimized lightweight integrated pedal units (IPUs). Not only that, WABCO will also equip the customer's engine brand with air compressors, and will support customers through localized production and global engineering capabilities in the US and Brazil to expand the local supply of the engine. During the agreement period, WABCO will also provide next-generation optimized energy-saving system (OPR) single-piston air compressors and new clutch solutions to help improve fuel efficiency.

As part of the agreement, the customer also confirmed that it will serve as a leading customer of WABCO's next-generation OnGuardACTIVETM Advanced Emergency Brake System (AEBS) solution. OnGuardACTIVE plans to begin mass production in 2019. The system uses a new radar sensor with the longest radar detection range and the widest range of short-range visibility in the commercial vehicle industry; even in the case of harsh visual conditions, the main vehicle can be moved up to 80 km/h. The vehicle in a stationary state implements full automatic emergency braking. WABCO is the industry leader in collision mitigation systems and advanced driver assistance systems independent of OEMs, and has sold more than 450,000 OnGuard safety systems worldwide.

As a system-wide supplier of EBS and ADAS, WABCO will also supply the customer's new electric vehicles and work closely together on vehicle formations. Both parties are key members of the European ENSEMBLE Innovation Alliance, which is jointly funded by the European Union to develop and demonstrate multi-brand truck formations.
