High-tech locks do not meet fire regulations

Australians want to install new high-tech front door locks and may find that they may not meet fire regulations. Driven by the realization of networked homes, the United States established lock manufacturing companies and start-ups, marketing a high-tech front door lock, the e-key used by a smart phone application. Some can enter and exit from the entire network for programming and some who compile logs.
A well-known American name, Ketteran, has announced plans to lock its Bluetooth 4.0 feature Kwikset Kevo into Australia in October. This will cost $329 here. Once installed, users on their iPhones and designated e-keys can open the front door by touching the Kevo lock with their hands, or they can use the FOB price or key as a backup. The owner can email an authorized e-key to access an au pair or merchant who can be programmed to work on a specific day at a specific time. Lockitron's harmless smart locks and August smart locks from California startup Apigy are also selling high-tech consumer front door locks. These locks may be offered in Australia in the future.
This new breed of high-tech locks may not comply with Australian fire regulations if they have not been tested and connected to designated fire doors, as required by the Australian fire safety standards. Users may be required to delete them in fire inspections. Fire and Rescue New South Wales states that since the introduction of the Australian Building Code's front door in 1992, the requirement was that fire doors were in place.
A FRNSW spokesperson said that the locks were tested by the private and public certification authority before the fire doors. The Victoria's capital fire department said that you need a building permit before the lock was changed, and all fire doors were tested as a complete assembly. If the lock is changed by a fire door, a new certificate or more tests need to be renewed. “Generally speaking, on the third floor or above of an apartment building, there must be a 60-minute, self-closing fire door,” said Allen, MFB building surveyor. "In the apartment building up to two floors, they all must be self-closing and close, with solid core doors no less than 35mm thick."
Australia seems to have different building codes. It was explained by the Building Code Committee that if some locks cannot be used for fire doors, the exit doors are completely different. According to this code, the exit door must be able to be opened from the inside without the use of a key or mounted on the back panel of the door at a specified distance by pushing or by an open door rod. This ruled out from having a "bolt" lever, just like Kevo, the lock needs to be opened, and a key lock from the inside. However, Australia's building codes include exemptions that allow other locks to be installed in the apartment's front door. Even bolted locks can be used for such fire doors, as long as the fire resistance of the door is not affected, according to a senior source. The lock requirements for those exit doors do not apply to the front door of the apartment, the source said.
Katean's boss, Cobb said, does this mean that their locks are suitable for Australian fire doors? "The Kevo can be installed in all residential and commercial premises other than doors classified as fire doors," Spokesman Cobb said yesterday. Not all high-tech products are used as a complete lock component. The Lockitron is a top of the door rod that fits inside and pushes it to open or close an internet connection dialog. It does not interfere with existing locks. The August smart lock replaces the rear of the lock assembly and promotes harmless replacement of existing locks. It includes the camera locked in the front side.

We used heard many of customers complained about the bad experience on the bad smell mats they purchased from other supplier. Indeed, that may cost a lower even half of our price, it is because the EVA foam material is what we call second-hand material, its smell will make people uncomfortable. Melors promise that the EVA foam material we use would be never second-hand foam material, what we offer is truly non-smell and non-toxic.
