How to improve the efficiency of CNC milling cutter?

CNC milling cutter is the main tool for mold processing, its processing volume accounts for about 80% -90% of the total amount of mold cutting processing, thus becoming the focus of the development of mold processing tools. Developing new tools can improve machining efficiency and improve machining results. The following three points can also be used as a way to increase the efficiency of CNC milling cutters.

1. Reducing the tool quality, reducing the number of tool components, simplifying the tool structure In the tool body structure, care should be taken to avoid and reduce the stress concentration. Grooves on the cutter body (including pockets, chip pockets, and keyways) can cause stress concentration and reduce the strength of the cutter body. Therefore, it should be avoided to have a sharp corner at the bottom of the slot and groove. At the same time, the structure of the cutter body should be symmetrical to the rotary axis so that the center of gravity passes through the axis of the cutter. The clamping and adjusting structure of the blade and the tool holder should eliminate the play as much as possible and require good repeatability. High-speed milling cutter has been widely used HSK tool holder and machine tool spindle connection, a greater degree of improvement of the tool system stiffness and repeatability of positioning, is conducive to the tool to break the speed limit of progress.

2. Improve the tool clamping method. Simulation calculations and fracture test studies have shown that the clamping method for high-speed milling cutter inserts is usually not clamped by friction. It is necessary to use inserts with a central hole, screw clamping, or a specially designed tool structure to prevent the blade from flying. The direction of the clamping force of the tool holder and the blade is preferably the same as the direction of the centrifugal force. At the same time, the pretightening force of the screw must be controlled to prevent the screw from being damaged prematurely due to overload.

3. To improve the balance of the cutting tool The balance of the cutting tool has great help for the safety of the advanced high speed milling cutter. Because the unbalance of the tool will produce an additional radial load on the spindle system, its size is proportional to the square of the speed. Let the weight of the rotating body be m, the eccentricity of the center of mass and the center of the rotating body be e, then the inertia centrifugal force F caused by the unbalanced weight is: F=emω2=U(n/9549) 2 where: U is the unbalanced amount of the tool system ( g · mm), e is the centroid eccentricity (mm) of the tool system, m is the tool system mass (kg), n is the tool system speed (r/min), and ω is the tool system angular speed (rad/s). From the above equation, it can be seen that the balance of progressive tools can significantly reduce the centrifugal force and improve the safety of high-speed tools.
