Hohhot, July 11th As a representative of the Chinese historical and cultural heritage, the “Great Wall of China” has undergone trials in recent years as it has been destroyed and rescued. In the current Great Wall protection work in the relevant provinces in China, the “Great Wall Protection Experience” in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region may be one of the representatives.
Need to raise awareness of the "Great Wall"
As a symbol of the Chinese nation, in the history of China, more than 20 vassal states and feudal dynasties built the Great Wall, spanning more than 2,500 years. According to the new recognition by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Great Wall is distributed in 15 provinces and cities including Beijing, Hebei and Inner Mongolia. The total length of the Great Wall recognized by the state is 21,196.18 kilometers.
Among the provinces where the Great Wall is distributed, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is an area rich in ruins of the Great Wall of China. From the current point of view, there are 10 Great Walls in the Inner Mongolia, including the Warring States Period, the Warring States Period, the Warring States Period Qin Dynasty, the Qin Dynasty, the Western Han Dynasty, the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Sui Dynasty, the Jin Dynasty, the Western Xia Dynasty, and the Ming Dynasty. The walls of the Great Wall of the era totaled nearly 7,400 kilometers, and the relevant remains were 9600. In other places, it accounts for nearly one-third of the total resources of the Great Wall of China.
However, in the face of these rich and precious "Great Wall heritage", people's awareness of cultural heritage protection is very backward. In 2007, a Great Wall Cultural Research Institute selected more than 10,000 people in Inner Mongolia to conduct a sample survey of Great Wall Knowledge questionnaires. The survey results showed that nearly 90% of people do not know that there is a Great Wall in Inner Mongolia, and people’s awareness of the Great Wall’s protection is even more elusive.
"A lot of people think that only the Great Wall in Beijing was called the Great Wall. They didn't even know that there was a section of the Great Wall in their house. They didn't know that the piece of intermittent stone is still a world cultural heritage." The Great Wall of Inner Mongolia Resource investigator Yang Jianlin said that in some villages where the ancient Great Wall passed, the villagers even used the stones of the ancient Great Wall to build houses and imprisoned sheep pens, causing serious damage to the Great Wall.
The Great Wall was seriously damaged by man-made damage.
Due to wind, sand, rain, snow, earthquakes and other natural factors, the ancient Great Wall in Inner Mongolia, which has experienced vicissitudes of time, has been damaged to varying degrees. However, compared to irresistible natural factors such as sandstorms and earthquakes, man-made damage has a greater impact on the protection of the Great Wall.
In 2008, a mining company in Hohhot paid no attention to the cultural relics department and issued numerous bans. It excavated in the wall and protection area of the Great Wall of Qin and Han Daqingshan. Several 10m deep pits intercepted the Great Wall of Qin and Han along the mountain and cut it into two. In the segment, the north and south were about 100 meters apart. This was the “damaged case of the Great Wall of Qin and Han of Daqingshan” which was shocked at the time. Such cases have continued to occur in the past more than 10 years.
Zhang Wenping, deputy director of the Inner Mongolia Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology, who has worked for the protection of the Great Wall for many years, said: “In some areas, some small quarries and mining sites illegally mined the Great Wall with explosives; some places pushed for the road to the Great Wall, and these All of them are regulated by the state."
The “national regulations” mentioned by Zhang Wenping was the “Great Wall Protection Regulations” promulgated by the State Council in 2006. This Great Wall protection law, which had been brewing for 7 years, was not fully constrained by relevant experts at the time of promulgation. However, the protection of the Great Wall of China has finally had a regulation. "At least from the country to the local, everyone began to attach importance to the protection of the Great Wall." Zhang Wenping said.
In 2006, when the “Great Wall Protection Regulations” was promulgated, China launched the “Great Wall Protection Project” involving 14 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. This historically rated cultural relic protection project aims to protect the Great Wall, an endangered world heritage site.
Experts in the five-year plan for protection in Inner Mongolia called for community participation
As a province with a large number of ancient Great Walls, the investigation of the Great Wall in Inner Mongolia started in 2007. To date, Inner Mongolia has organized 24 survey teams of 242 Great Wall investigators. For a few years, they used their own feet to “measure” these national symbols that were urgently needed to be protected.
“We are going to walk the four or five kilometers of the Great Wall today to carry out surveys and surveys. We will conduct surveys during the day and collect data in the evening. Although we work hard every day along the monotonous walls, we are watching these valuable traces of history disappear and we feel this. Work is very meaningful."
Five years ago, Yang Jianlin, who was also a master of history in Inner Mongolia University, was elected to the Great Wall Investigation Team in Inner Mongolia. He said that the five-year investigation of the Great Wall not only allowed one to feel the historical responsibility of the work, but also deep feelings in recent years. The people's awareness of the protection of the Great Wall is gradually increasing.
“In order to prevent others from damaging the Great Wall, some villagers spontaneously fenced some of the Great Wall Beacons with fences. However, the problem is that some villagers know that the ancient Great Wall is national cultural relics, but there is often no scientific way to protect them.” Yang Jianlin said that the government should make overall plans for the scientific protection of the Great Wall.
In the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” cultural development plan formulated by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the project for the protection of the Great Wall in the history was specifically listed. Including the implementation of surveys, planning and design projects, 42-section 200 km key areas for emergency reinforcement; 7400 km of the Great Wall to carry out enclosures, protection; 12,000 km of the Great Wall along the establishment of 1,000 Great Wall protection signs, and the establishment of grass-roots Great Wall protection and care Team.
For the protection of the Great Wall, Zhang Wenping suggested that the state should issue a plan for the protection of the Great Wall of the system as soon as possible to coordinate and coordinate the inter-provincial protection work for the Great Wall; national and local governments must also increase the capital investment in the Great Wall protection and further revise and improve. The Great Wall Protection Ordinance strengthens law enforcement and supervision.
“The Great Wall is a testimony of the history of the Chinese nation and a symbol of the nation. The protection of the Great Wall is not only the responsibility of the government, but also the responsibility of the archaeological research institution. He is the common responsibility of each of us.” Zhang Wenping said that the protection needs of the Great Wall The joint efforts of the whole society. (Finish)
