During the flowering period of potato, 15 randomly selected plants were selected from each variety. Two functional leaves were selected from each plant. Therefore, the application of the leaf area meter in the determination of the patch area is quick and accurate.

The number of plants and the total mass of each variety were recorded at the time of harvest, and the tubers were sorted by mass. For each variety, select 5 to 6 tubers weighing 0.05kg or more, weigh them, cut them into thin slices, bake them in an oven until they reach constant weight, and immediately weigh them after they are taken out. Dry weight is the percentage of dry matter that is obtained from the fresh weight. content. The dried flakes were crushed using a Dade brand shredder to obtain a dry powder for quality analysis. Soluble sugars and soluble proteins were determined with the anthrone-sulfate method and the biuret method, respectively, and the starch content was determined with an iodine colorimetric method.

The leaf area of ​​five varieties using the leaf area meter was determined and the corresponding yield analysis found a significant positive correlation, indicating that a relatively large leaf area is conducive to increasing the economic yield of the potato. The formation and quality of crop yield depend on the output of photosynthetic organs to storage organs. The main purpose of field management measures such as irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and cultivation of improved varieties is to improve their photosynthetic performance and increase economic output. Although leaf area is not necessarily proportional to the total photosynthetic area of ​​crops, LAI is more commonly used in agricultural production.
