LMC wins FPSO mooring system order

January 14, floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) turret design contractor and provider EzraHoldingsLimited a wholly owned subsidiary LondonMarineConsultants (LMC) announced that the company received a contract Sembcorp subsidiary Jurong Shipyard in Singapore, An external turret mooring system will be supplied for the Edge Detection Well (EWT) FPSO vessel in the Libra field.

The Libra field is a large ultra-deep water field located in the Santos Basin, north of the Tupi field and approximately 230 km from the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The field is estimated to contain between 8 billion and 12 billion barrels of oil and is one of the largest deepwater fields in the world.

       OOGTKLibraGmbH&CoKG, a joint venture between Brazil's OdebrechtOil&Gas and TeekayOffshore, awarded Jurong Shipyard a contract to rebuild the NavionNorvegia shuttle tanker to build the LibraEWTFPSO. The joint venture will own and operate the FPSO and lease it to Petrobras for 12 years, excluding optional accessories.

LMC 's scope of supply includes the design, procurement and construction (EPC) of the entire external turret. LMC will also design mooring lines, analyze risers, and provide engineering support to integrate turrets and revolving racks into the FPSO at Jurong Shipyard.

The general manager of LMC said: “As a reliable supplier of a 20-year-old advanced turret mooring system, this contract is a good opportunity for LMC to strengthen its position and enter the challenging Brazilian deep sea market. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Jurong Shipyard, OneSubsea, OOGTK and Petrobras on this very important project."

       Currently, the group's London office is under engineering and project management, and plans to manufacture turrets at another subsidiary of EzraHoldings, the TRYARDS shipyard in Vietnam. Under the LMC-approved subcontract, OneSubsea will manufacture an advanced rotating frame in Norway with six rotary joints, including two high-pressure (550 bar) gas-filled rotary joints, so that it will be timely in the first quarter of 2016. The complete turret is integrated into the FPSO.
