According to foreign media reports, Ford Motor Company is currently recalling nearly 500,000 Wing Tiger multi-function sports vehicles (SUVs) worldwide. The models involved are equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine because the throttle may “stick”. Of the recalled vehicles, the American market was 424,000, the Canadian 35,000, and Mexico 19,000, while the European market was 0.45 million and other regions 0.43 million, totaling 482,800.

Ford said that the defects in the recalled vehicle involved speed control cables that could cause the throttle to “stick”. The recalled models were mainly 2001-2004 Mavericks. The accelerator cable assembly of the cruise control system of the car was flawed, which may cause the accelerator pedal to start automatically, causing unexpected acceleration of the vehicle.

In the recent past, Ford has launched a recall of 11,500 Wing Tiger SUVs in North America due to oil leak potential. Ford said the findings of the recall showed that the root cause of the failure was a "mechanical scratch" defect in the tubing supplied by component supplier TI Automotive, which could lead to rupture and leakage. As a result, the 2013 version of the engine version of the Maverick 1.6L engine compartment may have internal fuel line rupture and lead to fuel leakage, posing a fire risk.

However, Huang Antao, the head of Changan Ford's public relations department, said in an interview with the "First Financial Daily" yesterday that Maverick's domestic projects in China will not be affected by its consecutive recalls in North America and other markets.

“The production of any product in different markets will have different situations. There is no inevitable link between recalls and domestically produced projects in North America and other places. At present, we are actively promoting related work and we hope that the Tigers will appear at the Beijing Auto Show. After that, they can meet with Chinese consumers as soon as possible.” Regarding concerns that the recall of Mighty Tiger may affect domestic-made projects, Huang Xiaotao responded that Chang’an Ford is currently fully promoting the localization of Mie Tigers and the company will consider all possible occurrences before the official launch of production. The issue does not exclude unsafe factors, but the specific time-to-market and model configuration of Mavericks in China have not yet been determined.
