The 4 missing persons of the Heping avalanche in Xinjiang are still missing. The rescue has continued for 6 days.

According to Voices of China's "News Story" report, at noon on March 21st, four men from Atushi, Xinjiang, came to an avalanche near the winter ranch near Chahantong Village in Hejing County, Hejing County. The witnesses alerted the Hejing County Public Security Bureau. Local authorities have started the emergency plan for mountain rescue. The rescue operation has continued for the past six days, nearly 130 hours.

Last night, there was a 3.2-magnitude 3.2 earthquake in Hejing County. According to the reporter’s understanding, there was no impact on the rescue. This morning, the reporter had just learned from the local rescue headquarters that five professional rescue workers from the Xinjiang Shanyou rescue team entered the mountain early yesterday to rescue them. After a hard time of 7 hours, two rescuers reached the avalanche point. There were no missing person clues at the scene. Due to the complex nature of the avalanche, the rescuers returned to the front headquarters yesterday evening after collecting imagery on site.

The rescue has been carried out for six days. There is still no news of the missing person, mainly because of the complicated terrain and bad weather conditions in the mountainous area. After receiving the report, the locals had preset three rescue plans for helicopters from the top of the mountain, rescue through the mountain road to the area where the accident occurred, and the valley reached the rescue scene. However, after looking at the site, it was found that the landing site was located in the valley between the two mountain peaks, which was 5 meters wide and about 2 meters below. Helicopters could not land on the rescue. At the same time, taking into account that it is very difficult to bypass a mountain to get to the troubled area during the rescue process, but in the process of entering the mountain, because of a smooth cliff with an height of 8 or 9 meters, it is impossible to climb and block the road to continue climbing. The latter rescue plan was chosen to use the horses to transport the rescue equipment into the mountains. The rescue personnel used the instruments to open the rescue channel. Therefore, the Autonomous Regional Emergency Office transferred 7 members from Xinjiang Shanyou Rescue Team to carry professional ice and snow equipment, and formed a rescue team with more than 30 local public security, armed police, and herdsmen to carry out search and rescue work. As the roads were all covered by more than 1 meter deep snow, they could fall into the cave at any time. As a result, rescue workers were advancing at a speed of one kilometer an hour. Therefore, the rescue rate is relatively slow.

According to the person in charge of the Xinjiang Shanyou Rescue Team, the momentary impact after the avalanche is very large. According to the routine, people will immediately lose consciousness and be buried. From the perspective of the site and the current temperature, it is very unlikely that trapped people will survive. However, the rescue force did not give up the rescue. Now the headquarters will determine the next rescue plan based on the information provided by rescue personnel.
