U.S. build waterwheel to handle floating garbage

Scientists estimate that marine plastic waste around the world is about 1 million tons, which is only a conservative estimate. And what's worse is that the rubbish even formed five large floating islands, two in the Atlantic, two in the Pacific, and one in the Indian Ocean. This is a huge problem. Now, a solar waterwheel began to clean up this mess.

A solar-powered waterwheel has been installed in Baltimore, Maryland, to clean floating waste and can handle 23 tons of garbage per day. The water tanker is located in Baltimore’s inner harbor and its main river inlet. The working principle of the water wheel is to use the “fragmentation system” to remove waste and debris from the water, and then put the collection on the conveyor belt, transfer it to the side of the boat, and then concentrate on the treatment. The power of the conveyor belt comes from the water in the harbor. Garbage will be left in Chesapeake Bay, and if the rubbish is not blocked, it will eventually enter the Atlantic Ocean. If the device is placed on the sea, it will handle more garbage.
“Creative solutions for marine waste disposal abound, but few are adopted by marine experts. Too often, the concept is a little more than practical,” Dr. Taylor of the Marine Sciences said. “This is the first marine reduction. Plastic really works."
