It is reported that the Wärtsilä 31 engine has been selected to power a new generation of icebreakers being built by Vyborg Shipyard. 
The order for Wärtsilä was signed in September this year and will be used to serve the Yamal LNG project in the northeastern waters of the Yamal Peninsula in Russia.
It is understood that this icebreaker is designed with Aker ARC 124 and will be equipped with three 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 31 engines, including Wärtsilä's remotely operated engine on-line monitoring system.
