Magna Interior and Exterior Systems Expands Business in China

Gasgoo Integrated Report On August 8, 2011, Magna International Inc., an affiliate of Magna International, announced the expansion of its business in China and purchased an injection molding and paint factory in Wuhu City, Anhui Province.

After Magna invested, the shares of the company named McKay Wuhu Automotive Exterior Co., Ltd. are as follows: Magna Interior and Exterior Systems Co., Ltd. accounted for 51%, Changshu Automobile Accessories (CAIP) accounted for 34%, and Chery Technology. Co., Ltd. accounts for 15%.

The factory has 300,000 square meters of production facilities. In 2010, it achieved a record revenue of 43 million U.S. dollars. It employs 600 people and mainly supplies car front and rear bumper systems to Chery Automobile.

Bob Brownlee, general manager of North America and Asia at Magna Interior and Exterior Systems Inc., said: "This merger is in line with our strategy of pursuing growth in emerging markets and opens the door to our exterior and bumper business in China. In the past few years, our interior parts and systems have developed steadily in China, and this merger has laid the foundation for the growth of our exterior business in the region."
