On the morning of September 17, Li Yongwu, president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, personally convened the relevant leaders of the association and experts in the field of industry research, education, quality inspection, and standardization to discuss the characteristics, production, and use of melamine products, as well as the products. Issues such as the relationship between standards and management and food and feed. After the meeting, they organized and submitted to the central leadership and relevant government departments a report on the production, use, and standardization of melamine.

The "Report" pointed out that melamine, as a basic organic chemical raw material, is currently in a period of rapid development as the demand of the domestic market continues to expand. For the production of melamine, the country has formulated a perfect standard and clearly stipulated that it must not be added to food and feed. The "Sanlu milk powder incident" should belong to the illegal activities of related companies and responsible persons.

At the same time, President Li proposed that all relevant departments and enterprises of the industry should actively cooperate with government departments in the supervision of melamine production and sales.
