Volvo Car Company recently launched a new heavyweight eco-friendly model project to achieve zero emissions for its long-range DRIVe model. Volvo Cars and Vattenfall, Sweden’s largest energy company, announced that they will cooperate in the production of new plug-in hybrid vehicles. This hybrid vehicle, which can be recharged through standard household sockets, will be launched in 2012.
Volvo's plug-in hybrid technology will use a battery pack to drive a zero-emission motor. The power system will be supplemented by a Volvo high-efficiency diesel engine. This diesel engine can use renewable synthetic diesel to meet the very strict future emission regulations.
