Zeneca cooperation with a number of other companies have developed a called Kou Paley Cox (Cuprex) process, after a prolonged use of multiple pilot plant different copper mineral materials, proved feasible process flow shown below [1 ] .
   FeCl 3 to leach copper sulfide ores, 95 ° C The second stage is leached to fully oxidize to form Cu (II ). The copper leaching rate is 95% . The silver is leached with copper and can be replaced and recovered in the raffinate of the extracted copper. If there is gold , most of it remains in the slag. Copper concentration in solution can reach 45g /L , 2 levels of extraction by 30% DS5443 , entrained and co-extracted a small amount of impurities with a lean electrolyte level 2 , and then stripped with water for 4 stages to obtain copper 90g Copper chloride solution above /L . A certain amount of NaCl was added to increase the conductivity, and electrolysis was carried out in a single-stage electrolytic cell using a selective cation exchange membrane (DuPont Nafion ) as a separator. This cell is called Turk US Rolle (Metclor) slot, as shown below. Current density 1500A /m 2 , the tank voltage is 2.3~2.5V, and the current efficiency is 97%~99% . Since the purity of the solution after extraction and separation is high, the purity of the electrode product is greater than 99.99% , and the dense granular copper does not oxidize in the air. The electrolytic lean liquid is mainly sodium chloride, the copper is reduced to lOg/L , and the extraction is reduced to below 0.lg/L . Sodium chloride is returned to the anode compartment. The organic phase loaded with a small amount of copper is returned to extract the new leachate. The chlorine produced by electrolysis is used to oxidize FeCl 2 to FeCl 3 and return to leaching.
   Obviously, this process consumes more energy than the cuprous electrowinning process, but because of its strong separation and separation capabilities, it is suitable for the treatment of complex minerals such as copper - nickel , copper - zinc , copper - lead and copper - zinc - lead. It is still in the industrial test stage.
