The ProVent® Series uses a coalescer separator to separate oil mist from helium to minimize residual oil content. The system also integrates a high-performance oil separator and pressure regulator. The compact device is not only versatile but also lightweight and compact. ProVent® prevents grease deposits on turbochargers and downstream engine components. This economic concept is specifically designed for industrial engines with helium flow rates ranging from about 10 to 1000 liters per minute. If parallel connections are used, higher flow rates can be achieved to meet different engine power levels. ProVent® offers great flexibility in installation and can be mounted on the engine or in the cabin. Various designs of safety valves can also be used to prevent crankcase pressure from becoming excessive.
Background Information
Crankcase ventilation is necessary because during each piston stroke of the combustion process, engine exhaust gas enters the crankcase from the gap between the piston ring and the cylinder liner. In turbocharged engine applications, air also enters the crankcase through the turbocharger return line. Without ventilation, these so-called helium gases can cause excessive pressure in the crankcase. In many countries, regulations concerning engine emissions have clarified that crankcase helium cannot enter the air. Therefore, helium in car engines is redirected into the intake pipe through a so-called closed crankcase ventilation system and then burned. At present, there are no effective standards and regulations in the world to regulate the emissions of commercial or industrial diesel engines. However, due to environmental factors, the use of closed crankcase ventilation systems has gradually become a trend. A closed crankcase ventilation system means that helium does not enter the air but returns to the intake manifold. However, helium needs to be purified before returning to protect sensitive engine components (such as turbochargers) from contamination. Closed ventilation reduces overall engine emissions and also plays a positive role in reducing fuel consumption.
